    Wrap

This is not a body measurement but a style choice: how far the upper front overlaps the center. Leave 0 — the pattern maker will pick about two thirds of the half front. The wrap edge won't land on a dart: if it does, the pattern maker will shift it.This is not a body measurement but a style choice: how far the upper front overlaps the center. Usually 4¾–8⅝ in.Usually 12–22 cm.

    How the robe is drafted

The quarter width is the larger of bust and hip plus ease (default 7⅞ in20 cm), divided by four. The shoulder is dropped: the shoulder end sits ¾ in2 cm beyond the side, with a 7° shoulder slope. The armhole at the side is deep — 0.34 of the bust — and the sleeve is a rectangle whose top length equals the armhole. The V-neckline on the front runs from the base of the neck to the wrap edge at a depth of 0.35 of the bust.

We checked the draft against proven commercial patterns for the same style: the key measurements match.

The pattern maker checks the draft itself: circumference, matching shoulder and side seams, sleeve cap and armhole, wrap. The results are in the “Draft check” section.

    How to print and tape

Download the PDF on Letter or A4 sheets and print at 100% scale, without “fit to page”. The first sheet has the test square: measure it with a ruler. The sheets are taped together with an overlap along the ⅜ in1 cm strips; sheet numbers and the assembly diagram are on the first page. For a copy shop or plotter, choose “One-sheet PDF”.

    What you get

The back on the fold, the front and the sleeve at full size, with seam and hem allowances. The bias binding and waistband are cut as strips — the dimensions are below the drawing.

    FAQ

    What measurements do I need?

Bust and hip, the robe length at the back from the base of the neck, and the sleeve length — also from the base of the neck over the shoulder to the desired length: 17¾ in45 cm for elbow length, 70–75 for wrist length. The robe is loose-fitting, so no other measurements are needed: the width is calculated from the larger of the circumferences plus ease.

    What fabric should I use?

For a summer robe — poplin, viscose, cotton, sateen, silk, muslin. For a bathrobe — terry or waffle weave, for a warm robe — velsoft or flannel. The bias binding and waistband are cut from the same fabric or a contrasting one.

    How do I sew it?

Sew the shoulder seams, set the sleeves into the open armholes, then sew the side seams and sleeve seams in one pass. Join the two strips of bias binding at the center back, fold in half lengthwise and attach along the front edges and back neckline. Hem the bottom and sleeves, and sew the waistband and belt loops.

How much does the robe wrap?

Each front wraps past the center front by 2⅜ in6 cm (adjustable in the “Wrap” field), plus the width of the binding — the robe wraps securely and doesn’t gape when you walk.
